UUM RECEIVES COVETED RECOGNITION FROM GREEN WORLD AWARDS 2016

UUM ONLINE: The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, received a certificate and a trophy from The Green Organisation for UUM’s Global Gold Medal triumph in the Green World Awards 2016 for Education & Training, held in Bucheon, South Korea, in October 2016.

He accepted the award, which was presented to him by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof Dr Noor Azizi Ismail, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Meeting Room, yesterday morning.

In addition, Prof Dr Noor Azizi also handed the Vice-Chancellor a sheaf of related certificates awarded to UUM, namely, a certificate formally naming UUM as the Ambassador of Green World 2016, a certificate giving recognition to UUM as a Green World Leader, and a certificate signifying UUM’s triumph in the Green World Awards 2016 for its commitment to best practices in environmental protection and preservation.

The selection ceremony at which UUM was selected as Ambassador of Green World 2016 and Green World Leader, was held in the House of Parliament, Westminster, London, in November 2016.

The Green World Awards is organised by The Green Organisation, an international body established in 1994 as an independent, non-profit, and non-political organisation. The body recognises and rewards organisations that promote best practices in environmental care around the world.

The conferment of this award will indirectly help boost UUM’s prospects in ecotourism, as well as its reputation and status on the world stage whilst inspiring others to take part in the noble mission of protecting the environment.

The Global Silver Medal for Education & Training was won by Amman Arab University, Jordan, while the Global Bronze Medal went to Oxford Brookes University, England.

Also present at the occasion were the Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UUM COB, Prof Dr Yusnidah Ibrahim, the Dean of the School of Business Management, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, and senior officers of UUM.
