VICE-CHANCELLOR JOINS IN THE FUN AT THE TREE PLANTING CAMPAIGN

UUM ONLINE: In conjunction with Universiti Utara Malaysia's 31st Convocation Fair which will take place from 8 until 15 November 2018, the Petronas Student Residential Hall (Inasis) organised the sandalwood seedling planting programme in a bid to foster environmental awareness amongst campus denizens.

The programme called, "Plant A Tree Campaign" which was conducted around the grounds of the Petronas Inasis also saw the participation of students from various Inasis who got down and dirty planting a total of 1000 sandalwood seedlings.

STHEM INSTILS LOVE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AMONGST ITS STUDENTS

UUM ONLINE: In conjunction with the World Clean-Up Day, students from the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Environment Management (STHEM) decided to get their hands dirty and together conduct a ?gotong-royong? around the compounds of UUM in order to ensure its environment stays beautiful and pristine. 

According to lecturer, Mr. Muhammad Fauzi Mokhtar, World Clean-Up Day is a global event celebrated by various parties in Malaysia in ways of organising clean-up activities and collection of garbage in their respective areas.
 
He reiterated that, UUM is renowned for its beautiful nature landscapes surrounded by its invaluable fauna flora but the trash that can be seen everywhere is definitely an eyesore.

INDEPENDENCE EXPLORATION TO SINTOK LAKE

SOG ONLINE: The Civic and Welfare Club of School of Government (SOG), UUM COLGIS has organisedthe ?Jelajah Merdeka Tasik Sintok? (Independence Exploration to Sintok Lake) programme, which was a walking while waving the Jalur Gemilang activity, from UUM COLGIS to Sintok Hidden Lake on August 09, 2018.

The programme was attended by more than 40 staff comprising of academic and administrative staff, was not only aimed at strengthening the feeling of friendship amongst staff, but also providing them with the awareness of safeguarding the environment as well as staying fit through walking activities. Since the event was conducted in conjunction with the Independence month, the participants took the opportunity to wave the Jalur Gemilang as an act of love and affection for their beloved country.The early morning rain could not break the spirit of the staff to carry out the programme. The programme that was accompanied by Assoc.Prof. Dr. Zaheruddin Othman, the Dean of SOG began at 9.00 am and ended at 12.30 pm.

SAC PUPUK ALAM SEKITAR LESTARI SEMPENA MERDEKA

UUM ONLINE: Pusat Penginapan Pelajar (SAC) menyemarakkan semangat merdeka di kalangan warga kampus dengan memupuk sikap cintakan alam sekitar pada Program Merdeka SAC 2018, semalam.

Timbalan Naib Canselor (Hal Ehwal Pelajar & Alumni) Prof. Dr. Abdul Malek Abdul Karim melahirkan rasa bersyukur dapat meraikan sambutan Hari Kebangsaan yang ke-61 bertemakan Sayangi Malaysiaku dalam suasana aman harmoni dan muhibah.

?Kalau kita lihat dari segi moto hari merdeka, kita menterjemahkan rasa kasih dan sayang terhadap negara dengan menjalankan aktiviti menjaga alam sekitar untuk diwariskan kepada generasi akan datang.

AMORPHOPHALLUS PRAINII IS SET TO CHARM VISITORS TO UUM

UUM ONLINE: In addition to the Three Siblings Trees, the Sintok forest will once again be in the spotlight after the discovery of a rare plant, the Voodoo Lily or the locally known  as ?lekir? tree or ?loci? in the forest area of the University.

Known as the tree with the largest unbranched inflorescence, the ?lekir? tree or its scientific name, Amorphophallus prainii is part of the Araceae species.

MERDEKA BICYCLE PLOGGING

Bersempena dengan sambutan kemerdekaan pihak Pusat Pengajian Pengurusan Pelancongan, Hospitaliti dan Acara (STHEM) telah mengadakan satu program berbasikal yang dinamakan 'Merdeka Bicycle Plogging' dengan bertemakan 'Sayangi Negaraku Malaysia', yang mana para peserta akan berbasikal secara konvoi melawat tempat-tempat yang mempunyai nilai warisan dan sejarah di dalam UUM dan sekitar UUM sambil mengutip sampah-sampah yang terdapat di kawasan berkenaan.

The 20th Malaysian Finance Association Conference (MFAC 2018) organized by the School of Economics, Finance and Banking in cooperation with the Malaysian Finance Association was held on 1-2 August 2018. Representing the Vice Chancellor, the conference was officiated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr Ayoib Che Ahmad. The Dean of SEFB, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Aznor Hj. Ahmad, was also present at the opening ceremony. The conference commenced with a keynote address by Prof. Dr. Jonathan Batten, the CIMB-UUM Chair. This conference had received strategic cooperation and sponsorship from Bank Islam (M) Berhad, the Finance Accreditation Agency and Perodua Auto Corporation Sdn. Bhd.

UUMIT MERANGSANG TUBUH KELUAR KERINGAT KETIKA BERBASIKAL

ANJUNG TAMU ONLINE: Bahaya jika tak keluar peluh seharian bekerja di pejabat, dengan keluarnya peluh, ia akan melancarkan sistem kitaran darah masuk dan keluar serta menjaga tubuh selain menjadikan suhunya kembali normal.

Dalam konteks kesedaran ini, UUMIT yang diketuai oleh Pengarah, Kamarudin Abdullah bersatu hati bersama semua warga kerja memilih untuk berbasikal sekitar kampus sempena kayuhan santai Merdeka dan transit di kawasan Rehat & Rawat (R & R) UUM Welcome Centre.

Malah, aktiviti berbasikal merupakan satu cara yang murah, selamat dan efektif untuk melangsingkan tubuh. Dalam erti kata lain, berbasikal juga dapat membakar lemak dan kalori berlebihan yang kita makan sekaligus nyah isu obesiti yang mengundang pelbagai penyakit.

CUACA HUJAN TIDAK HALANG STAF PKU KIBAR JALUR GEMILANG

UUM ONLINE: Hujan lebat tidak menghalang staf Pusat Kesihatan Universiti, Universiti Utara Malaysia (PKUUUM) untuk membuktikan rasa sayang terhadap Malaysia dengan mengibarkan Jalur Gemilang di puncak Bukit Bunga Raya, Sintok, baru-baru ini.

Pengarah PKU, Dr Wan Zarina Wan Mahmud berkata, semangat patriotik itu dipamerkan kira-kira 50 staf PKU sebagai tanda cinta kepada Malaysia dalam salah satu aktiviti bulan kemerdekaan.

?Ekspedisi ini menyatukan staf dalam aktiviti yang menyihatkan menjadi medan untuk mengeratkan silaturahim selain memberi peluang kepada mereka untuk melihat sendiri indahnya kehijauan alam sambil mendengar kicauan burung yang mendamaikan.
