We move to be greener than before

Our aims are to control the number of motorised vehicles on campus and encourage a healthier environment.

Bicycle track and pedestrian way

Vehicles are closely related to air pollution. As an environmental friendly and green university, UUM has provided safe bicycle track and pedestrian way for the use of UUM community to commute. The bicycle track and pedestrian way route distance for the whole of UUM is 16 kilometers. These routes are unconnected to the main road and are separated by sewers.

UUM has provided safe bicycle track and pedestrian lanes for UUM community. The bicycle and pedestrian route distance for the whole of UUM is 16 kilometres. The routes are unconnected to the main roads and are separated by sewers. The lanes are designed for convenience, safety and in some parts provided with disabled-friendly features.

The bicycles are provided by the Business & Strategic Department and Sport Centre for UUM community and visitors.

Zero Emission Vehicle

UUM students are not allowed to bring vehicles without permission. The university has provided 32 shuttles to connect the student accommodations with academic and administrative buildings.

Our plan is to introduce electrical buses soon. This is an effort to increase the number of existing Zero Emission Vehicles in campus such as buggies and bicycles.

Parking areas

In order to reduce vehicles on campus we have:

  • issued official university vehicle sticker to limit the number of vehicles allowed in campus; the sticker is provided to all eligible staff and students at a reasonable price,
  • parking facilities reserved for staff and students however, the parking spaces are limited,
  • provided public parking located in strategic areas to facilitate visitors to administrative and academic buildings,
  • covered and non-covered pedestrian walkways for students and staff to commute to classrooms and offices,
  • used tyre clamps for the enforcement of regulations on campus,
  • installed auto barrier gates at the parking areas reserved for staff and visitors with access cards to provide convenience to staff and visitors to perform their daily tasks.
