UUM ONLINE: The Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Edutourism Division has made thorough preparations ahead of the recommence of its operations by complying with the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Manager of the Edutourism Division, Department of Strategic and Business Development, Mr Muhammad Fauzi Mokhtar said, after being temporarily closed for more than four months due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, disinfection operations on all assets such as Voltron, Tram, Rang Car and ATV electric bicycles had been successfully carried out.

“The disinfection activities which were carried out used a battery-powered spray pump. The pump has the capability of spraying a total of 16 litres of disinfectant liquid on a full tank. Guidelines for making the disinfectant solution were obtained from the Environment Unit of the University Health Centre.

"This disinfection practice will become the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that will be carried out on assets that have been utilized by clients to ensure that the health and safety of our staff and clients are not put at risk," he said.

In an effort to streamline business to clients, the Edutourism Division had begun implementing simulation of service counter operations and bicycle delivery based on SOP compliance which were provided as initial preparation and training for Edutourism staff.

“This simulation provides training to the frontline personnel so that they can get used to the SOP as set by the National Security Council for the tourism sector.

"In the simulation, customers are asked to line up and practice social distancing. Next, body temperature check will be administered which thereafter, clients will be asked to use hand sanitizer provided and fill in the clients' personal details into the registration form," he explained.
