SIPTIK VII SUCCESSFULLY COLLABORATED UNIVERSITY AND INDUSTRY

2 December 2014-7th Symposium on Technology Management and Logistics (SIPTIK VII) for two days was organized by the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML) Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) created new history when it received participation of other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

Apart from UUM, UniversitiTun Hussein Onn Malaysia, UniversitiSains Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Universiti Malaysia Pahang and Seberang Jaya Polytechnic, Penang also participated in the symposium.

“The purpose of this symposium was to give exposure to students about the potential and the opportunities availablein the industrial environment upon graduating. In addition, students were also given the opportunity to present their final project work in an international seminar in addition to improving communication skills and self-esteem," said the Dean of STML, Assoc. Prof Dr Zulkifli Mohamed Udin.

During SIPTIK VII, participants had the chance to listen to lectures delivered by three industry practitioners, Chief Executive Officer of KLIA Holdings Bhd, Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri IR. Jamilus Hussein; Senior Vice President, Collaboration Research Engineering Science and Technology (CREST) Penang, Dr.Nor Azmi Alias and Director of Innovation, Infineon Technologies SdnBhd, Tan Soon Keong.

Meanwhile, the Director of CUIC, Assoc. Prof.Dr. Hartini Ahmad in her welcoming speech said UUM strives to bring close industry practitioners and universities so that both sides can identify their needs and wishes especially the focus of the industry which includes the supply of human capital.

She hopes that such symposium can be implemented in a much larger scale with more participants from universities around the country.
