Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Vice-Chancellor said, since UUM Welcome Centre started operating in June 2014, we have received an impressive number of local and international guests and visitors to the university. UUM Welcome Centre is the first of its kind in this country and it functions as a one-stop information centre for visitors and guests.

"UUM is blessed with a wealth of natural and intriguing mix of flora and fauna. Among them, are the rare and high-value species of Sintok and Gaharu trees that have been around for hundreds of years. We should be resourceful and utilise these abundant natural and rich sources wisely and efficiently to generate revenue for the university,” he said.

These days, the concept of “green technology” and “green sustainability” are very much the hype and UUM campus is actually surrounded by lush green tropical rainforest.

"We should use this gift to our advantage and we must be proud of our beautiful landscaped grounds of the university. The unique features available around the campus can actually attract tourists to come to this university in the green forest,” he added.

Dato’ Vice-Chancellor revealed that, in addition to stepping-up the efforts to promote UUM Welcome Centre as the one-stop information centre for local and international tourists, UUM is also in the midst of improving and developing numerous tangible facilities and services such as the equestrian services and also UUM Green Shuttle services to attract more tourists to come to UUM campus.

Also present at the ceremony were members of UUM Management Committee and senior university officers.
