THREE OTHER PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES PARTICIPATED IN SIPTIK V

20 November 2012- Symposium on Technology Management, Operations and Logistics the 5th (SIPTIK V) with the theme "Green Management Drivers for Sustainability and Transient Advantages" for the first time received participation from three other public higher education institutions.

According to the Director of SIPTIK V, Dr. Wan Nadzri Osman, about 364 students participated in SIPTIK V of which 304 were from UUM while 60 fromUniversitiSains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) andSultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Polytechnic (POLIMAS).

“The contestants exhibited and presented their research findings in a variety of topics related to Strategic Initiative Group (SIG) respectively. This not only provided an opportunity for them to commercialize their products but also helped to understand the actual employment situation," he said.

SIPTIK V also organised an open interview session for the practicum programme and industrial talk by invited guests.

Among the guests who delivered the keynote address were Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of PKT Logistics SdnBhd, Datuk Michael Tie; STML senior lecturer, Dr. Adam Mohd Saifudin; President of Institute of Value Management Malaysia, Ir Dr Mohd Mazlan Che Mat and Managing Director of Qurba Business SdnBhd, Suhaimi Ahmad.

Meanwhile, the Dean of STML, Assoc. Prof. Dr Zulkifli Mohamed Udin, said the studies conducted by the students were based on the STML vision: Developing the Green Management Concepts.

He also hoped the coming participation in SIPTIK could be expanded to an international level by engaging Universities from neighbouring countries such as Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.

Also present at the ceremony was the Director of CUIC, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hartini Ahmad.
