UUM ONLINE: Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Prof Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak received an invitation to deliver a lecture on the implementation of the green concept and the balance between green forest with development of the university at The 2nd International Workshop on UI GreenMetric in Depok, Jakarta, Indonesia, recently.

Prof Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa delivered a lecture entitled "The University in a Green Forest - Towards Eco-friendly Campus" and shared his current experience helming the green campus of UUM with other participants.

The second international workshop regarding UI GreenMetric was attended by nearly 150 esteemed participants including the Rectors / the Presidents of the universities from around the world namely the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Austria, Pakistan, India, Japan, Korea and the United States of America.

UUM ONLINE: The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak visited the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM)  Ostrich Farm yesterday to assess the preparations made  in conjunction with the Discover UUM 2016 programme.

The Ostrich Farm has been cited as the site for the launch of the Discover UUM 2016 programme which will be officiated by the Minister of Higher Education, Yang Berusaha Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh in May.

The Vice-Chancellor was briefed on matters relating to the launching ceremony of the Discover UUM 2016 by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Assoc. Prof. Dr Abdul Malek Abdul Karim.

ANJUNG TAMU ONLINE: Social responsibility and the love to UUM inspires 36 students from Technology Video Group A & B co-curriculum subunit to uncover the history of UUM in 1984 and the achievements throughout 32 years of its establishment.

In this context, Welcome Centre has been selected as the location for them to conduct the gotong-royong activity in order to instil the responsibility attributes, values, work ethics and the importance of the sense of belonging to UUM.

IPQ GO GREEN : PLANT ADOPTION HANDOVER TO STAFF

IPQ ONLINE: On 7th April 2016 (Thursday), the Institute of Quality Management (IPQ) organizes the Go Green Programme:  Plant Adoption handover to the IPQ staff.  The programme aims to educate staff to love and become more responsible towards green plants, especially to the plants around IPQ office areas. This programme is also in line with the Go Green Campaign at the University level.

The programme begins with stretching activity led by the Project Director, En. Shahrin Azly bin Muhamad Yusuf. He also gave a brief introduction regarding the care and treatment of the plants.   There are more than 50 plants at IPQ office areas which require attention to prevent plant diseases.

HOLISTIC STUDENTS FROM FIVE INSTITUTIONS OF TWO DIFFERENT COUNTRIES COLLABORATE

PPA CAS ONLINE:  An approximately 200 students and staff from various higher learning institutions within and outside the country have joined forces to implement the S.O.S .: Save Our Shores: Man in the Mangrove Beach Series II Programme in Kuala Ibus, Kuala Kedah on March 5, 2016 (Saturday). The planting of 600 mangrove seedlings along the coast of Kuala Ibus was organised by UUM CAS PPA in collaboration with the Kedah State Forestry Department. The S.O.S. Series II Programme is a string of Series I which was carried out in 2015 in Merdeka Coastal area, Sungai Petani by students from the School of Applied Psychology, Policy and Social Work (PSP, UUM CAS) under the supervision of Dr Fatimah Zailly Ahmad Ramli.

UUM ONLINE: The Green Campus Exhibition held in conjunction with Discover UUM 2016 showcasing the herritage of flora and fauna was praiseworthy in developing the community’s knowledge about the country’s natural treasure found in Sintok.

According to the Photography Section Chief, Shamsaimi Ezil, the exhibition can boost Discover UUM and at the same time act as a medium promoting UUM along with the Visit Kedah Year 2016.

The spectacular panorama in addition with the natural green scenic surrounded ny the picturesque gardens with the wildnerness of the foreset reserve, veils the untouchable treasure.

The Vice Chancellor was accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Madya Dr. Abdul Malek Abdul Karim; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Noor Azizi Ismail; the Director of Chancellery, Ahmad Rasidi Abdullah; the Director of Develpment and Maintenance Department, Ir. Md. Uzairin Saidin; Security Officer, Lt. Kol. Musa Bari and UUM officials.
