UUM ONLINE: 06 April 2015- Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and National Council of Professors: Natural Resources and Environment (SAAS) Cluster can become the official platform for sharing ideas and insights related to the environment and natural resources especially in state of Kedah.

In his opening remark, the Secretary of SAAS Cluster, Prof Dr Noor Azhar Mohamed Shazili said that this open-floor dialogue session presented the opportunities for all parties to exchange ideas, observations and views on environmental and natural resources issues. This dialogue is also expected to have the most far-reaching impact on the people in Kedah state with its share of rich and natural resources and the country as a whole. 

UUM ONLINE: 19 March 2015- Foodabox project developed by nine students from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) emerged winner for a Hope Award under Environmental Conservation and Sustainability Category at International Conference for Young Leaders 2015 (ICYL) held at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), recently.

The award was presented by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to the representative of the Foodabox project team who was also the co-founder, Dick Lim Yew Teck.

Foodabox project was placed under Co-operative and Entrepreneurship Development Institute (CEDI) of UUM under the supervision of Deputy Director of CEDI, Dr.Norashidah Hashim.

Utusan Malaysia 9 Mac 2015: Pesawah sering kali mengalami masalah untuk mengawal pertumbuhan rumput di dalam petak sawah padi.

Rumput yang terlalu tebal menyebabkan pokok padi terpaksa bersaing untuk mendapatkan nutrisi serta cahaya matahari menyebabkan hasil berkurangan.

Oleh demikian, petani terdahulu menggunakan sejenis alatan ringkas untuk mengawal pertumbuhan rumput di dalam petak sawah yang lebih dikenali sebagai pelandak.

Utusan Malaysia 09 Mar 2015: Rekaannya amat mudah namun amat berguna bagi menyelamatkan tanaman padi daripada rosak akibat para air yang terlalu tinggi dalam petak sawah.

Berbekalkan paip PVC (polyvinyl chloride) terpakai, ia dibentuk seperti huruf L dan diletakkan di setiap petak sawah sebagai saluran air buang untuk mengawal paras air yang berlebihan.

Perekanya, Pesnyarah Kanan, Sekolah Pengurusan Teknologi dan Logistik, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Dr. Kamal Ab. Hamid berkata, sebelum ini pesawah menggunakan kaedah manual untuk dengan memecahkan batas petak sawah untuk mengalirkan air berlebihan keluar.

UUM ONLINE: 12 February 2015 - Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Prof Dato’ Wira Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak spent a day in forest and wooded area of Sintok to observe high-value rare tree species, yesterday.

The Sintok forest hosted species of a high-value gaharu (agarwood) trees or also known as the Karas trees. However, the gaharu reserved areas were slowly shrunk.

Therefore, the Vice-Chancellor urged the management of the university to effectively work on the preservation of the high-value gaharu trees in Sintok forest. Besides, he also suggested that a comprehensive inventory to find out the exact number of the gaharu trees exist in the Sintok forest to be carried out.

UUM ONLINE 10 February 2015: With the end of the three-day Media Familiarization Trip (MFT) 2015 organised by Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), representatives from TV3 took the opportunity to record of the beauty of the Sintok forest, yesterday.

Accompanying, Ms. Salina Zakaria Abd Aziz Ahmad and Mr. Shahfuanuar Saidin who are representatives of TV3 on the Sintok forest exploration were Senior Assistant Conservator of Forests, Mr. Amran Mahmud, and Forester, Mr. Ramli Osman of the Development and Maintenance Department (JPP) UUM.

UUM ONLINE 25 January 2015: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) second Academia Lounge is set to be developed near the Cluster 6 Lecture Hall (DKG6), School of Multimedia and Communication Technology (SMMTC).

As such, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Wira Dr. Mohamed Mustafa visited the site where the second Academia Lounge will be established soon.

During the site visit, the Vice-Chancellor was briefed on the development of the planned dining room by UUM architect, Mr. Ismadi Yaacob and civil engineer, Mr. Hazlan Abd Rahman from the Development and Maintenance Department (JPP). 

2 December 2014-7^th Symposium on Technology Management and Logistics (SIPTIK VII) for two days was organized by the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML) Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) created new history when it received participation of other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

Apart from UUM, UniversitiTun Hussein Onn Malaysia, UniversitiSains Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Universiti Malaysia Pahang and Seberang Jaya Polytechnic, Penang also participated in the symposium.

UUM ONLINE 20 October 2014: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Welcome Centre unveiled an interesting new tagline- “The University in a Green Forest”. This new tagline aptly described the serene and beautiful ambiance of the unique and mesmerizing flora and fauna surrounding UUM campus.

For this reason, a special ceremony to launch the new UUM tagline was officiated by UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Wira Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak at UUM Welcome Centre yesterday.

Kejayaan itu bukan sahaja memartabatkan nama Polimas di pertandingan tersebut, malah menaikkan nama Politeknik Malaysia dalam bidang inovasi di negara ini.
